2025 Catbird Farm Open Trial

We will have four one day open trials September 19-22, 2025. There will be a different course each day run on a commercial flock of Targhees. They are the same flock we have run on for the last 8 years, and have shown to be fair and fabulous, so long as they are treated well. They will be run once a day.   

Outruns will be between 300 and 530 yards over interesting and challenging terrain. Drives will be between 450 and 600 yards. Lots of bumps, hills, and blind spots. Judge(s): TBD

Entries will be open July 7 - 11, 2025; the link will be posted below as well as on the USBCHA website. All entries received during that time frame will have equal preference in the draw, should one be needed. Anyone who enters after July 11 will automatically be placed at the bottom of the waitlist.

With the USBCHA National Sheepdog Finals being held the following week 10 hours away, we are anticipating a large entry. Once entries close we will decide whether dogs will run in 2 of the 4 trials or 3 of the 4. We will make this decision and email out the accepted entry list no later than July 25, 2025.

Our property will be open from Saturday, Sept. 13 - noon, Friday, Sept. 26, 2025 for campers who need a landing spot between Meeker, our trial and the National Finals. We can refill water tanks here. There is a dump station a couple miles away. Otherwise, no hook-ups.

We may offer sheep rentals on our farm flock the week prior to our trial on a seperate 7 acre field which is fenced and removed from the trial field. And we will offer sheep rentals after the trial on the commercial Targhee sheep. Details and sign-up will be posted at a later date.

Field address is 14606 S Murphy Road, Cheney, WA 99004. Be aware that GPS will take you to our neighbors, so please follow signage and double check the mailbox # if you are unsure.
